Green pool cleanup and algae removal
A green pool in Costa Rica can go from clear to unusable in a few days of heat and rain without chlorine. We diagnose it, quote the restoration on site, clear it, and then keep it clear with weekly service.
How we bring a green pool back
- Diagnostic visit: water test, algae level, filter and pump check, photos
- On-site quote for the restoration before any work starts
- Shock treatment and algae removal: brushing walls and floor, vacuuming, skimming
- Filter cleaning and circulation check so the algae doesn't come back
- Re-test and balance, then weekly service keeps it clear
Why pools turn green here
Sun and heat burn through free chlorine fast, and rainy-season storms dilute the water and wash in organic debris. If the pool is unattended for a week or two — common with second homes and rentals — algae takes over.
Keeping it from happening again
Weekly service with chemicals included is the realistic minimum in this climate. You get a photo report after every visit, so you can see the water is clear even when you are not in Costa Rica.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to clear a green pool?
It depends on how green it is and the state of the filter. Light algae can clear in a visit or two; a pool that has been abandoned for weeks takes longer. The technician gives you an estimate with the quote.
Do you clean black algae and stains?
Yes. Black algae and stains need a specific treatment — see our black algae and stain removal service. The technician confirms the approach and price on site.
